The Light Loft, a 55 square meter bedroom space, is a testament to the designers' belief in the profound linkage between life and emotion. The design team has skillfully incorporated elements of industrial styling, robustness, human consideration, light and shadow layering, finished concrete, metal elements, and timber material into the design. The result is a space that is not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing and emotionally resonant.
One of the unique properties of this design is its delicate play with light and shade. The designers used a hanging wooden frame, white checkered windows, shutters, and other design elements to create a warm, inviting atmosphere. The main wall, paved with imported Italian tile, and another wall painted with black lacquer and magnetic paint, add to the relaxed and comfortable tone of the space.
The design team faced the challenge of reconciling the needs of the young occupants with the expectations of their elders. They successfully overcame this challenge by incorporating fresh-looking furniture, decorations, and lighting into the design, thereby creating a space that is both modern and timeless. The design also features a dedicated display space for the client's doll collection, integrated into a metal cabinet with a common display glass with lattice mesh and hooks.
The Light Loft project began in June 2015 and was completed in February 2016. It was exhibited in Miaoli City. The design team's research for this project was driven by the young clients' love for movies and comic dolls. They aimed to create a space that could facilitate the transition of moods, a place that could mirror the relationship between reality and dreams through materials, light, and shadow, and ambiance.
The Light Loft is a shining example of Golden Kao and Sinna Kao's innovative design approach. It is a space that is not only functional and aesthetically pleasing but also deeply connected to the occupants' life experiences, habits, and history. The design's success is a testament to the designers' belief in the profound linkage between life and emotion, and their commitment to creating spaces that reflect this belief.
